TAG HEUER GOES ELECTRIC… ON FOUR-WHEEL AND TWO-WHEEL DRIVES ALIKE!

After the Formula E, TAG Heuer has become the Official Partner of the Giro E: The Tour of Italy by electric bike. A new turn for TAG Heuer… and for clean energy.

The Giro E, a 100% electric Grand Tour

Four days after the start of the Tour of Italy a brand new race–the Giro d’Italia–is making its debut: The Giro E. Launched on May 8th in Catania, on the slopes of the Etna volcano in Sicily. This pioneering race follows the same route as the Giro d’Italia, a few hours after the riders’ passing by, only this time… with electric bikes.

Both technological and eco-friendly, the race displays a philosophy that differs from its older related race, as it aims non-professional cyclists. A new way for cycling and technology enthusiasts to ride the Giro d’Italia roads. A mythic tour which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2017, as TAG Heuer became its Official Chronometer.

TAG Heuer pioneer in the electrical industry

More than just a race dedicated to amateurs, the Giro E heralds the rise of a new era. Following the example of the Formula E based on silent engines and advanced on-board technologies, this 100% electric Grand Tour pursues the development of more responsible and innovative sports.

Already a Founding Partner of the FIA Formula E Championship since 2014, TAG Heuer is thus once again concretizing its commitment to sporting avant-gardism by becoming the Official Partner of the first electric cycling Grand Tour.

In order to illustrate this Partnership with the Giro E, Italia’s rising cycling talent Gianni Moscon challenged former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella in an unprecedented race. A duel between an electric bike and a Formula E organized on the circuit of the very first Formula E Grand Prix.

TAG Heuer at the forefront of innovation

TAG Heuer finds a source of inspiration for iconic collections in the motor sports world, such as the TAG Heuer Carrera, the TAG Heuer Monaco and the TAG Heuer Formula 1.

Following the launch of the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 collection in 2017, TAG Heuer once again confirms its pioneering spirit by signing a bold, new partnership.

Whether for 4-wheel or 2-wheel drives, TAG Heuer relies on an energy that always seeks innovation, thus thrilling the enthusiasm of millions of fans worldwide.  And that’s just the beginning.
