Spirit AeroSystems CEO Wins Aviation Leadership Award

Spirit AeroSystems President and CEO Tom Gentile has been selected as the 2018 Aviation Week Grand Laureate Award winner for Commercial Aerospace Leadership.

he panel of judges recently recognized Gentile for “leading the turnaround of the aerospace industry’s leading aerostructures provider and securing a long-term master contract with Boeing.”  The award was presented last night (March 1) at the 61st Annual Laureate Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

“I’m proud to accept this honor on behalf of the people of Spirit who work so hard every day to be a trusted partner to our customers and stakeholders, and to develop the next generation of aerostructures,” Gentile said. “Our success would not be possible without the tremendous partnership we have with Boeing. We look forward to working with all of our valued customers long into the future.”

Tom Gentile and all of the winners were selected by Aviation Week Network editors who reviewed dozens of nominations embodying the spirit of exploration, innovation and vision that will inspire others to strive for broad-reaching progress in aviation, aerospace and defense,” said Aviation Week & Space Technology Editor-in-Chief Joseph C. Anselmo.

Spirit AeroSystems is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of aerostructures with design and build capabilities for both commercial and defense customers.
