Morpho’s Itemiser DX Desktop Explosives Trace Detector Certified for Use at Airports in France.

Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiary Morpho Detection, Inc., today announced its Itemiser® DX desktop explosives trace detection (ETD) system has been certified by the Service Technique de l’Aviation Civile*. (STAC) in France.

As a result of this certification, the sixth by a global regulatory agency, Itemiser DX is now available to quickly and accurately screen cabin and hold baggage, passengers, and cargo for explosives at airports throughout France.

Itemiser DX incorporates Morpho’s ITMS® trace technology into a lightweight, portable desktop system that can detect residue from explosives on skin, clothing, parcels, bags, cargo, vehicles and other surfaces. In addition to STAC, Itemiser DX has been approved by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the Italian Department of Transport, U.K. Department for Transport, and the U.K. Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB).

Since its introduction in 2009, more than 3,000 Itemiser DX units have been deployed to airport checkpoints, checked baggage and air cargo screening facilities, critical infrastructure and secure locations around the world.

The availability of Itemiser DX and the handheld MobileTrace® ETD system, certified by STAC in 2012, gives airports in France a single partner to provide advanced trace detection solutions to meet the most demanding security programs and challenges.
