Ferrari has unveiled the SC40, a striking new One-Off model from its Special Projects programme, designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre under the direction of Flavio Manzoni. Built on the architecture of the 296 GTB, the SC40 is a mid-rear-engined V6 berlinetta that embodies Ferrari’s philosophy of personalization, combining cutting-edge engineering with bespoke design for a single client.

A Tribute to the F40

The SC40 pays homage to the legendary Ferrari F40, launched in 1987. Its name and design echo the F40’s sharp, angular lines, while blending them with softer transitions for a modern identity. The “SC40” script engraved on the wing is a subtle nod to its predecessor, but the car is not a literal reinterpretation—it’s a unique creation with its own personality.

Exterior Design Highlights

  • Industrial inspiration: Defined by precise geometries and muscular, squared volumes.
  • Proportions: Long, low nose balanced by a short rear overhang.
  • Fixed rear wing: Painted in bespoke SC40 White, seamlessly integrated into the body.
  • Rear fascia: Black mesh reveals mechanical components, with smoked Lexan® louvres showcasing the V6 engine.
  • Exhaust system: Additive-manufactured central exhaust with titanium and carbon-fibre tips.
  • Side profile: Intercooler intakes reinterpret classic NACA ducts, accented by triangular carbon-fibre plates.
  • Front design: Aggressive headlights housed in black frames, connected to a wide lower intake and redesigned brake air intakes.

Interior Craftsmanship

The SC40’s cabin pays tribute to the F40 through Kevlar elements, reinterpreted for modern use:

  • Kevlar in footwells, behind seats, dashboard inserts, engine bay, and luggage compartment.
  • Upholstery in Charcoal Alcantara® combined with red Jacquard technical fabric.
  • Exclusive details: Prancing Horse embroidered on headrests and woven SC40 logos on seats.
  • Custom wheels: Diamond-cut brushed metal surfaces with black spokes for geometric emphasis.

Unique Colour and Branding

The SC40 White exterior was developed specifically for this car, with a cool hue that highlights body curves and recalls the Kevlar interior. Branding is minimal and exclusive:

  • SC40 logo appears only on the right side.
  • Fuel filler and charging caps crafted from brushed aluminium.
  • Ferrari lettering on the rear engine cover reveals carbon fibre beneath.

Special Projects Programme

The SC40 is part of Ferrari’s Special Projects initiative, which creates One-Offs tailored to individual clients. Each project takes about two years, involving close collaboration between Ferrari designers and the client. The process includes:

  1. Concept development based on client ideas.
  2. Detailed design blueprints and styling buck.
  3. Manufacturing to Ferrari’s highest standards.

A styling buck of the SC40 will be displayed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello starting October 18, 2025.

Performance

Based on the 296 GTB, the SC40 features:

FeatureDescription
