🌏 Strengthening Skies: L3Harris to Deliver Advanced AEW&C Aircraft to Republic of Korea

In a major leap forward for regional defense capabilities, L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has secured a landmark contract to deliver modified Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft configured for Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) to the Republic of Korea Air Force. Valued at over $2.26 billion, this strategic program brings together a powerhouse team of aerospace leaders—L3Harris, Bombardier, Israel Aerospace Industries’ ELTA Systems, and Korean Air—to deliver cutting-edge surveillance and command capabilities.

✈️ A New Era of Mission Readiness

The modified Global 6500 aircraft will offer enhanced speed, endurance, and altitude performance, enabling the Republic of Korea to detect and respond to threats with greater precision and agility. Equipped with combat-proven radar systems and a robust communications suite, these aircraft will seamlessly integrate with U.S., NATO, and coalition forces—creating a networked battlespace ready for fifth-generation operations and beyond.

“L3Harris is ready to deliver an advanced aircraft fleet that will strengthen mission effectiveness for a key American ally in the Indo-Pacific region,” said Christopher Kubasik, Chair and CEO of L3Harris. “We look forward to collaborating with the Republic of Korea to develop, test, integrate and sustain this vital capability for years to come.”

🤝 A Global Collaboration for National Defense

Each partner brings unique strengths to the table:

  • Bombardier contributes the reliable and high-performance Global 6500 platform.
  • IAI’s ELTA Systems delivers advanced radar and sensor technologies, including AESA radar and miniaturized detection systems.
  • Korean Air leads integration, modification, and long-term maintenance, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of Korea’s aerospace industry.

“Amid rising geopolitical tensions, this aircraft is the go-to choice for governments seeking to modernize their capabilities,” said Éric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier.

“Our team’s strategic special mission aircraft integrates innovative solutions and proven expertise,” added Boaz Levy, President and CEO of IAI.

“We are committed to building a robust special mission aircraft sector and contributing to the nation’s defense capabilities,” said Jin Kyu Lim, Head of Aerospace Division, Korean Air.

🇰🇷 Building Sovereign Capability

Beyond aircraft delivery, the program empowers Korean industry to take the lead in operations, maintenance, and future manufacturing—laying the foundation for sustained national defense innovation.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in aerospace collaboration and defense modernization, reinforcing the Republic of Korea’s readiness and resilience in an increasingly complex global landscape.
