The S7 Group airlines1 have drawn up a balance of their operating activities for 2016. Last year the airlines carried 13,146,469 passengers, which is by 23.7 % more than in 2015.

The growth on the domestic routes amounts to 27.5 %. S7 Airlines has carried 9,652,556 passengers on flights within Russia. The international flights of the airline have been used by 3,493,913 passengers, which is by 14.1% more than in 2015.

In December, for the first time in 2016, the growth on the international routes exceeded the growth on the domestic ones: 16.7% and 15.6% correspondingly.

In 2016 the passenger flow increased by 24.4 % up to 27,086,221 thousand passenger-kilometres, the cargo turnover increased by 23.9 % up to 2,564,355 thousand tonne-kilometres.

“Operational indicators correspond to our forecasts. 2016 was a prosperous year for the company. We did not stop opening new routes for travelling and renewing out fleet. Last year the number of flights increased by 12 %. In the context of such a rapid growth it is highly important to maintain flight regularity. According to the results of 2016 S7 Airlines is the fourth in Europe at punctuality in the international FlightStats rating. This is the best result among all Russian airlines, and we continue to do everything we can to let our passengers trust us while planning their trip”, Igor Veretennikov, S7 Group Commercial Director, noted.

In 2016 passengers of S7 Airlines received a possibility to travel on new domestic and international routes. Such cities as Berlin, Dusseldorf, Malaga, Turin, Shanghai, appeared on the S7 Airlines flight map. The passengers were able to take direct flights from Moscow to Ibiza and Rhodes.

Eight liners were delivered to the airline’s fleet: six Boeing 737-800NG aircrafts in Sky Interior modification, and two Airbus A321. S7 Airlines is constantly renewing its fleet, receiving the most modern aircrafts and using the newest developments of aircraft producers. In 2017 S7 Airlines is going to carry out flights on modern Airbus A320neo family aircrafts. The airline will be the first operator of such aircrafts in Russia. Airbus A320neo is cost effective, has an increased flying range, a more comfortable cabin and the lowest noise level among the aircrafts of the same class. Moreover, 17 Embraer 170‑LR aircrafts will be delivered to S7 Airlines fleet, which are the best for short-haul international flights.
