Bangkok Airways Organizes Coconut Trees Planting Activity in Koh Samui


Bangkok Airways recently organized a coconut trees planting activity in alignment with its on-going CSR campaign called  “Love Earth, Save Earth: Love Samui, Save the Coconut Trees”, which aims to encourage the people of Koh Samui to plant more coconut trees. The event was held on Saturday 19th November 2016 at Wat Chaeng Nok, Koh Samui, Surat Thani and joined by many distinguished guests and media.

Mrs. Ariya Prasarttong-Osoth, Advisor – Commercial of Bangkok Airways, stated that, “Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s major tourist destinations that draws in millions of tourists from around the world. Not only the warm hospitality of Samui people that attracts tourists to visit this beautiful island, but also the beauty of its pristine natures such as white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, idyllic underwater world and most importantly coconut trees that has long been seen as the island’s natural landmark and important economic crop. With this in mind, Bangkok Airways has initiated the “Love Earth, Save Earth: Love Samui, Save the Coconut Trees”, campaign with an intention to help preserve this natural heritage for the younger generation.”

“We were delighted to see a lot of people and students from Koh Samui and surrounding areas joined in the activity today. Apart from a fun-filled, yet meaningful trees planting activity with one of Thailand’s most-loved celebrities, Khun Alex Randell, we also give away one thousand aromatic coconut sprouts to interested farmers.” added Mrs. Ariya.

Moreover, participants of this campaign had a chance to join in many activities and learn more about coconut products that can easily generate income. Activities included a cooking demonstration of Thai caramel made from coconut sugar, a production demonstration of coconut body scrub, an exhibition of coconut OTOP products as well as a lecture under the topic of Coconut: from the upstream to downstream.
