Alitalia, once again, has been recognized as the best airline in the world for the quality of its onboard meals. The prize of “Best Airline Cuisine,” has been awarded by the American magazine Global Traveler, which has been conducting research on the exceptional achievements of the travel and tourism industry for 8 years.
More than 36.000 frequent flyers participated in the 2011 GT Tested Reader Survey, organized by Global Traveler.
This recognition rewards Alitalia’s efforts in renovating its onboard dining service, through offering the outstanding wine and food specialties of our country and accessories designed by some of the most famous Made in Italy brands.
The menus offered in Magnifica Business Class are inspired by the traditions of the Italian regions and are achieved in collaboration with ALMA, the International School of Italian Cuisine, directed by Gualtiero Marchesi. The menus are served with wines selected in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association.

Currently, and for the holiday season, we are offering dishes and wines from Calabria (on the flights from Italy) and from Valle D’Aosta (on flights to Italy) onboard Magnifica.
The project of offering wine, food and products reflecting the best of Made in Italy onboard our flights also stands at the base of the re-launch of “Ottima,” the Business Class on Alitalia medium-haul flights and of “Classica” class, the Economy Class on Alitalia long-haul flights.
