In November, Hong Kong Airlines has conducted a behind the scenes media tour of its aircraft maintenance processes and facilities at Hong Kong International Airport. Senior management representatives of the airline were on hand to provide a detailed explanation as on-lookers witnessed a rare jet engine replacement take place in the maintenance hangar.

“Our intention is to demonstrate on-site Hong Kong Airlines’ strong commitment to aircraft maintenance and safety,” said Mr Jeff Sun Jianfeng, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Airlines. “Hong Kong Airline’s maintenance processes and team are of the highest standard and we have a strong partner in China Aircraft Services Limited (CASL).” CASL is a strong and experienced maintenance partner, being a joint venture between China National Aviation Corporation, Hutchison Whampoa, United Airlines and China Airlines.
Mr Sun pointed out that the airline’s heavy focus on maintenance and safety, and the relevant measures have helped improve the On Time Performance. “The performance of Hong Kong Airlines has improved during October, 2012. The average On Time Performance exceeded 80%, reaching 88%. This demonstrates that the maintenance and safety measures that we implemented, including fleet improvement, optimization of flight structures, recruitment and the maintenance service provided by CASL have been very effective,” Mr Sun said.
“We will continue to improve our service quality, increase On Time Performance rates, passenger satisfaction and our focus on air and ground services in order to cater for the demand of passengers,”  Mr Sun concluded.
