Actor Timothy Spall has been cast in the lead role for a short film written by BA Great Britons winner – Prasanna Puwanarajah with support from Richard E Grant.

Currently in production, the film was shot in various locations in and around London, including the Velodrome at the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Released in April, the film will be shown at the pre-opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as on British Airways flights.

Prasanna said: “This is a film about a father and a son and a journey of forgiveness and absolution. I hope people will enjoy watching it as much as we have enjoyed making it. It was a real coup to get Timothy Spall cast in the lead role and he gives a beautiful performance.”

The London based writer recently presented his debut play ‘Nightwatchman’ at the National Theatre. His most recent short film ‘The Half-Light’ is due to appear at the London Short Film Festival and the Kuala Lumpur International Short Film Festival. He will shortly direct “Spoof Or Die” as part of Channel 4′s COMING UP scheme.

The film is under wraps until it is unveiled in April.
